The predecessor of the former municipal datacenter at Rathausstrasse 1 (built after plans of Harry Glück and soon to be teared down in favour of a more modern 'glass palace') was a market hall, converted into a movie theatre after commerical occupancy declined. The Forum Kino opened in 1950. Despite the unfavorable outer shell it was classy for that time and seated 1147 guests but the structure of the original building purpose didn't allow to install a bigger screen demanded in keeping with the times.
